Angel Fund Winners

We are pleased to announce the winners of our Angel Fund. A committee of eight of us reviewed the 139 entries based on need. The decision was more difficult than any of us could have imagined. There were stories of illness, accidents, death and grief, but also stories of recovery, growth and rebirth.

We wish we could afford to have given free trips to everyone who entered. However, we were forced to narrow it down to only four. Congratulations to the following women who will be going to our Island Hopper: Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard June 10-14, 2016 for free!
Betsy R., Durango, CO
Debbie W., Alliance, OH
Joy G., Birmingham, AL
Linda E., Superior, CO

Please don't despair if you entered and weren't chosen. We will be offering more opportunities like this one again in the future. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!

Apply for a Free Tour

We're looking for women who may have suffered a loss, overcome an obstacle, or are in desperate need of a respite, and who would not otherwise be able to afford one of our tours.

We will give away up to 4 free trips to our Island Hopper tour in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard June 10-14, 2016 to the most deserving women.

We are fortunate to have an angel who has made a substantial donation to help us keep "doing what we do." We know how rejuvenating our bicycle tours can be, so we are paying it forward.

Tell us why you or someone you know deserves one of our free tours by Christmas, and we'll announce the winners on New Year's Eve. Start your 2016 right. Good luck!

Ten Ways to Beat Those Winter Blahs

Winter getting you down? Are your clothes feeling tighter? Do you beat yourself up for not having worked out at all this week? Or last week? Or the week before that? Then it's time for a reality check. Here are 10 ways to beat those winter blahs and motivate yourself.
  1. Sign up for our Bermuda Blues tour in March. You have a month to get ready and there's no winter in Bermuda.
  2. Buy some new workout clothes and try a different class at the gym. Even if you can't keep up, you'll look good.
  3. Embrace the season. Rent a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis and try a new sport. Just be ready to fall.
  4. Need some help to get back in shape? Sign up for our beginner 13-day East Coast Meander in May. It's really three tours in one, so you save $230. Even if you're not in shape at the start of the tour, you will be by the end of it.
  5. Try a new app. The free Cardiio app offers a 7-minute workout you can do anywhere without props. Hey, seven minutes is better than zero.
  6. Check your bicycle. Is it ready to be ridden at the first sign of spring? If not, take it to your bike shop now. During the slow season, mechanics have time to tune up or fix whatever is broken.
  7. Take a walk. Wear lots of layers and arrange to meet a friend for coffee afterwards as a reward.
  8. Be ready to experience spring in all its glory by signing up for our Yellowstone National Park tour in June. We're still offering a $139 discount.
  9. Stop feeling guilty and curl up on the couch to watch a good movie about cycling. The Triplets of Belleville is my favorite.
  10. Plan now to prevent this from happening to you next year. Sign up for our February 2016 New Zealand tour by the end of this month and save $199. It's summer now down under!

Dates set for 2015 Women Only Bike Rides

Mark your 2015 calendars today! We'll host bicycle fun rides for women only from our WomanTours headquarters in Rochester, NY again this year:

Thursday, May 28 at 5:45pm
Friday, June 19 at 5:45pm
Tuesday, July 21 at 5:45pm
Thursday, September 24 at 5:15pm

All ages and abilities are welcome. All rides will have a sweep cyclist riding last who will help fix any flat tires. No one will get dropped or lost and we'll offer different length rides from 11 to 24 miles.

If you need to borrow a bike for the ride, let us know as we may have one available. Afterwards, we invite you to stay for a drink or a bite to eat at a nearby pub.

As the dates get closer, we'll ask for you to RSVP by phone or email so we know how many riders to expect. The rides will start at our office at 3495 Winton Place, Building E, Rochester, NY 14618. We'll look forward to seeing you in the spring!
